How to understand the person

There are many ways people have said to understand a person. There must be a thousands of ways to understand a person and his traits... Here is something written by AMISH which I found very relevant for any situation, very simplistic approach but I feel very effective
"If you want to understand a persons character, look closely at there interpersonal behaviour and transactions"

"It is attachments that make a person blind. It makes people forget their moral and even make them forget themselves, what they are and what they are capable of "

If you believe in hindu philosophy then to add to this, it is one's attachment which keeps the soul looping through the cycles of birth and death until his all attachments are untangled and burnt ...

Bell and Krishna

This is one of the mischievous acts of Krishna and his all implicit greatness.

Krishna was famous for his mischievous act of stealing butter from GOPIYAN. So as a precautionary measure Gopiyan started to tie bell with the pot of butter. So that whenever krishna and his buddy attacks those pot these bell will ring and they can catch Krishna them butter handed (just for fun didn't use red handed).
But since Krishna was lord and he controls the whole world (as we all hindu believe). He used to give order to bells.
Krishna: Hey Ghantika (bell)! Until we all are done eating donot starting making sounds.

After that everybody Krishna's friend, other of his animals etc, except him. Once everybody was satisfied, Krishna himself took one portion of butter. Then Gopi's caught him butter handed. They took him to Radha (mother of Krishna). And he was punished which itself is a fun story.
But lets move to this story.
After he finished his task/punishment. He came back to Ghantika. Asked her

Krishna: Kyon re Ghatika (Why bell?), why did u started ringing when I started eating. what grudge do you have against me. What have I done to you. You didn't ring when all my friends were eating. But just when I started eating you started ringing????

Ghantika: Hey Lord! I couldn't do anything. I have to follow my task without failing, which is guided by the scriptures. And scriptures says that when ever Lord gets the first portion, Bell should ring.

Learning: There are few rules which are made for us to follow. which should be followed without failing. Even if the lord who wrote it orders it to change for a while.
I think whatever is changed in such a small time and for small time is not worth. Gradual changes are more beneficial and effective and reasonable. Me and my friend were trying to analyse changes in human. We figured it out quick changes have put the person in some very bad situations.

Note: Excerpts from Ritambhara Devi's lecture.

Excerpts from Fountain Head

Few Excerpts from Fountain Head.
  • " It is strange to be unconscious of another person 's existence, to feel it as a close, urgent necessity, a necessity without qualifications, neither pleasant nor painful. Merely final like ultimatum. "
  • "Argument is one of things that has neither use nor charm. "
  • "The desire to choose the hardest might be the confession of weakness itself."

Indulgence Vs Austerity

Few days back I was talking to my friends, and they were teasing me for interest in general talk about girls, about attracting them, making girl friends and at the same time I talk about attainment of ultimate truth, about austerity. So here is my answer in terms of conversation between Arjun and Krishna. The story goes like this;

Scenario: After 13 yrs of exile in jungles he arrived to Dwarka, the land of Yadavas. He was welcomed warm-heartedly and was given his due respect as the best Archer and the Prince of Indraprasth. To show the respect and the love Krishna organized a big festival, where all the yadavas were invited for the hindu rituals as well as to enjoy the day. Meanwhile, when Arjun and Krishna were enjoying the festival, Arjun saw an un-controlled chariot coming to them. But to his suprise, the chariot was skillfully controlled by the girl riding it. He was amazed by her skills and also with her beauty. This was noticed by Krishna and he tripped on Arjun. arjun felt really bad as it was not a good behavioral conduct by a guest to ogle the girls of the state who welcomed him so generously. So he asked Keshav to go out of the place, so that he will have less distraction and less probability of such a slip. When they were alone, he asked to keshav

Arjun: Hey (a word to address) Keshav (aka Lord Krishna)! I feel that my mind struggles between two different phenomenon. When I go to some temple , or some religious place, my mind enters the state of elation and then I feel that all the materialistic indulgence are like specs of dust, which doesn't have any value. I feel like I have no desire of such materialistic things. I become very restless to break the bound of this material world and rise to know the ultimate truth, which is eternal and the base of life. I feel hatred for the all the materialistic things, my physical desires and all my achievements seems worthless. My mind eagerly wants to quit all these.
BUT suddenly my inner-self changes to the other extreme. All my desires roars back with much more intensity. Pleasures and ease of life attracts me. I cannot see anything wrong with it. I reason I give is God has made all this world for pleasure and enjoy, not to forfeit all those worldly pleasures. The force of desire is so irresistible that I fall short to stop it, and start flowing with it.

Krishna: Yogi's neither eat more than required nor eat less the its is required for their body.

Arjun: But I am not talking about my desire for food. But about other worldly pleasures.

Krishna: I know your dilemma between pleasure and sacrifice. I am referring excessive food with excessive indulgence in pleasure and less food with forfeiting worldly pleasure.

Arjun: Then one should not do Tapasya (path of austerity)?

Krishna: One has to live the life naturally. Put oneself to austerity, give unnecessary pain to oneself is just useless. You followed the path of abstinence. That was forceful suppression of you desires. As soon as that force was weakened, all your desires, like a stretched rubber, came with twice the force. Thats the reason I say donot run away from the materialistic world, neither over indulge in materialistic pleasure. Try to lead a life naturally. Flow with nature.

Arjun: But this the squandering, its the human nature isn't it? So your supporting squandering?

Krishna: No I am not. If you want to get rid of them then, you need not kill the desires. You have to detach yourself from them. Thats why I always propose to do things without any attachment to it. Eventually you will see that you will not be bounded by your desires.

Today I just saw one post on orkut status update
"it's all abt timing chotta sa chand bhi Suraj ko grahan laga sakta hai"
English translation for the above is
"Its all the matter of time that, the small moon also can hide the big SUN at the time of eclipse".
Being a Hindu religion follower, I see eclipse as a sign of bad luck, and I wanted to write a pessimistic criticism for the above message and now I landed up writing this blog.
But I would like to give the brighter interpretation of this first. I hope who ever posted this must have the intention of saying this:
"Its just the matter of time, if you think you are small, insignificant, and worthless in front of a Mightier's and famous. Its not your day or something which is making you low. Then you should look at the brighter side that, you will surely get a chance to show your talent and at least once in life you would be able to overshadow the mightiest and if you are lucky enough the world will be curious to see more of such actions from you in future, just like the astrologist see every eclipse as a chance to get more information about moon and sun. And you should be always prepare for those times, and make your best attempt to overshadow them, so that the world can see you".

Well I wrote a lot in favor of the message. Now my mind set is also has changed and now I don't feel like writing my pessimistic view of about this but for the sake of mentioning the other side of it I will write a sentence or two about it
"I see this as there are the times where you see the betrayal of the one who is closest to you and the seeker of help from you. As in the case of moon, who is from the same family of SUN, as we most of the time acknowledge SUN and MOON for giving light in day and night. But you can see the irony of betrayal to SUN by MOON, who takes the credit of providing light in nights, which he always borrowed from SUN. I would say his existence is because of SUN. But you can see SUN has a time where he is betrayed by his closest buddy MOON, where MOOON tries to overshadow the light of sun. And rest of the story can be built up from this point"
